Writing articles that centre around health and well-being throughout pregnancy; I often draw from my own experiences – revealing the good, the bad and the darn right ugly. Over the past four years I have made no secret of divulging the ugly side of the digestive health problems and discomfort I faced throughout my first pregnancy.

So it makes sense for my talk to centre around digestive health during pregnancy, the reasons behind why our body’s experience the discomforts and what we can do about it. From constipation, gas, and heartburn- I’ll break it all down. Do you ever find yourself spooning peanut butter straight from the jar into your mouth 😋

Smooth or crunchy❓What’s your preference? I’m a crunchy gal all the way..
⁣
Nuts are so good for you, we’re not talking the dry roasted salt and sugar coated variety, although those are still pretty dam tasty we’re talking nuts in their natural form.
⁣
They’re packed full of Nutrients- Yes they’re full of protein which is the first thing we think of but we forget the fibre and healthy fats which are essential to our health.

Nuts also have plenty of other nutrients like Vitamins E and B6, folic acid, niacin, magnesium, zinc, copper, and potassium.
⁣
If you’re going to buy shop nut butters, please please please read the ingredients. It may be more expensive but if you can go for organic you won’t be disappointed, avoid at all costs nut butters full of sugar and palm oil which are both a big no no ❌
⠀⠀
It may seem like more hassle than it’s worth ( ITS NOT I PROMISE) homemade nut butter is actually pretty easy to make.
⁣
1️⃣You’ll need 4 cups of unroasted unsalted peanuts 🥜 with skins on.
⁣
2️⃣Place on an oven tray in a preheated oven at 180C and roast for about 19 minutes.
⁣
3️⃣ Rub the nuts in a clean tea towel to remove the skins. The less skins the easiest it’ll be to blend
⁣
4️⃣ Place in a good processor and blend in high for 1 minute, stop and scrape down the sides
⁣
5️⃣ Repeat the above another few times, 1 minute blend, stop and scrape.
⁣
Your nut butter will start to blend and form, releasing the oils and turning into lush glossy peanut butter after about five minutes.
And voila 😋
